UMV Opens First Ever JBER Alternative to State DMV

Military service members now have an on-base alternative to driving across Anchorage to the single State of Alaska DMV that serves the entire greater Municipality.  The new UMV, as it is appropriately named, takes the offerings of a State of Alaska DMV and changes the focus to You, the customer.

“We are excited to have them here. This will ease the transition as our service members move state to state. This will be a win for our service members and their families,” said Colonel Daniel J. Knight, current Commander of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, at the ribbon cutting and opening ceremonies at the JBER Exchange.

“I have always been a believer in what the private sector can do,” said Krista Gonder, owner and CEO of UMV.   Her vision is for rapid access to State of Alaska DMV services.

This venture marks the fifth UMV location in Alaska, which has operated in Alaska since 2003.  Current locations of UMV offices are in South Anchorage, Midtown, Wasilla, Fairbanks and now JBER.
