Susan Bell Joins McDowell Group
(Juneau, AK February 23, 2015)
Susan Bell joined McDowell Group in February, following five years with the State of Alaska as commissioner of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development. Bell previously worked with the Alaska-based research and consulting firm, managing a wide array of projects including community development and planning, market demand assessments, feasibility studies for public and private investments, and public opinion research.
“We are very excited about Susan’s return to McDowell Group,” said Managing Principal Jim Calvin. “Her work as commissioner to market Alaska, develop renewable and traditional energy resources, and diversify our economy will clearly elevate our ability to serve Alaska and fulfill our own mission to enhance the economic, social, and cultural well-being of our clients.”
As Commerce commissioner, Bell had extensive contact with community and business leaders. She served as State Co-Chair of the Denali Commission and as a board member for the Alaska Railroad Corporation, Alaska Energy Authority, Alaska Gasline Development Corporation, and Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority. Originally from Nome, Susan currently resides in Juneau. She volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters and enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and three Labrador retrievers.
McDowell Group is Alaska’s most experienced research and consulting firm, with offices in Anchorage and Juneau. Since 1972, the company has helped communities, public agencies, non-profit organizations, and private companies respond to change and grow.
